Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how KitParlor ("we", "us", "the site") handles information when you use our website and tools. We have tried to keep it plain and honest. By using KitParlor you agree to the practices described below. This page covers data only; the separate Terms of Use covers what you may do with the tools, who owns the work you make with them, and what we do and do not promise about the results.
KitParlor is operated by an individual based in South Korea. You can reach us at contact@kitparlor.com about anything on this page.
Your files are processed in your browser
KitParlor's tools are designed to work entirely on your own device. When you drop in or select an image, that file is read and processed locally in your web browser using standard browser APIs. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, never transmitted over the internet, and never stored or seen by us. When you close or reload the page, any image you were working on is gone from memory. This is the core of how KitParlor is built.
Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect email addresses or file contents. There are two exceptions, both described in their own sections below: the game leaderboards, where posting a score is optional and publishes the display name you type, and email you choose to send us. Like most websites, our hosting provider and third-party services described below may automatically receive standard technical information when you visit, such as:
- Your browser type, device type and operating system;
- Your approximate location (derived from your IP address);
- The pages you visit on KitParlor and how you arrived (for example, a search engine or a link);
- General usage statistics such as page views.
This information is used in aggregate to understand which tools are useful, to keep the site running, and to serve relevant advertising. It is not used to personally identify you.
Game leaderboards
Twelve of our games have an optional leaderboard. You can play any of them from start to finish without ever touching it — nothing is sent anywhere unless you type a name and press Post.
When you do press Post, we save four things: the game you were playing, the display name you typed, your score, and the time you posted. We do not attach your IP address, your email, or any account to that entry, because we do not have them. Leaderboard entries are public — anyone who opens that game can read the names and scores on it. Please use a nickname rather than your full name.
These entries are stored in Google's Cloud Firestore database, run by Google Firebase on our
behalf. That means the data sits on Google's servers rather than ours, and Google handles it as
our processor under
Firebase's privacy terms.
The Firebase code itself is loaded from Google's gstatic.com servers when a
leaderboard opens, which means Google can see your IP address at that moment.
To have a leaderboard entry removed, email contact@kitparlor.com with the game name, the display name you used, and roughly when you posted it. We will delete it. You do not have to explain why, and you do not need to prove the entry is yours — if a name is bothering someone, it comes down.
Cookies and data stored on your device
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. KitParlor itself does not set any cookies. However, third-party services such as our advertising partners may set cookies to measure traffic and to make advertising more relevant.
Separately from cookies, some pages do store small amounts of data on your own device using the
browser's localStorage feature. About fifteen of our game and quiz pages use it, and
it holds things like your best score, whether you muted the sound, and the display name you last
typed into a leaderboard box. This data stays on your device. It is not a cookie,
it is not sent to us, and it is not used to track you between sites — but it is still data on your
machine, so we would rather say so than let the word "cookies" quietly cover it.
You can clear all of it — cookies and localStorage together — through your browser's
site-data controls, usually found under Settings as "Clear browsing data", "Cookies and site data",
or by opening the site information menu in the address bar and choosing to delete data for this
site. Clearing it will reset your saved scores and preferences, but nothing will stop working.
Fonts and other third-party resources
Every page on KitParlor loads its typefaces from Google Fonts
(fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). To deliver a font, Google
receives your IP address and basic request information such as your browser and operating system.
This happens automatically on page load, before you interact with anything. Google states that it
does not use Google Fonts requests to build advertising profiles; see
the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
We mention it because it is a request to a third party that you did not explicitly choose.
Advertising and Google AdSense
KitParlor uses third-party advertising to keep the tools free. Ads on this site are served by Google through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to select and measure the ads you see, both here and on other sites. We do not receive or store any of that data ourselves — it goes to Google, and Google's handling of it is covered by Google's advertising privacy notice.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to KitParlor and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

Analytics
We do not currently run any analytics. If we add a privacy-respecting web analytics service later to understand aggregate usage — for example, how many people visit a tool page — any data would be collected in aggregate and would not be used to identify individual visitors.
Email you send us
Our Contact page has no form and no third-party message service — it simply gives you an address. If you email contact@kitparlor.com, your message arrives in an ordinary email inbox, and we use it for one thing: to read it and reply to you.
We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not send marketing, and we do not sell, rent or pass your address to anyone else. Whatever you put in the message — your name, your email address, a screenshot, a description of your shop — is kept only as part of that email thread. Please do not send us anything confidential; it is a normal email account, not a secure channel.
How long we keep things
We would rather be honest than tidy here:
- Leaderboard entries: indefinitely, until you ask us to remove them. There is no automatic expiry. A score you post today may still be on the board years from now. Email us and it is gone.
- Email: indefinitely, until you ask us to delete it. Messages stay in the inbox so we have the history of a conversation. Ask and we will delete the thread.
- Data on your device: until you clear your browser's site data. We cannot delete this for you, and we cannot see it.
- Your files: not at all. They never leave your browser, so there is nothing to keep.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA and similar laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how it is used. Laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act grant these rights.
In practice, there is very little for us to act on, and we would rather set that expectation than imply a bigger process than exists. We hold no accounts and no profiles. The only personal data we hold is what you handed us directly: a leaderboard display name and score, and any email you sent. Both are covered above, and for both the answer is the same — email contact@kitparlor.com and we will action it. We aim to reply within 30 days. There is no fee and no account verification step.
We do not sell or share personal information, in the sense those terms are used under the CCPA, and we never have. We also do not run any profiling or automated decision-making. What we cannot do on your behalf is control the advertising and font data that goes to Google — for that, use the Google opt-out links in the advertising section above, since Google is the controller of that data, not us.
If you are in the EU or UK and are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children's privacy
KitParlor is a general-audience tool site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of KitParlor after changes means you accept the updated policy.
